It was National Taco Day and National Vodka Day so we went out to the Yard House and got tacos and vodka mixed drinks :) My favorite was the Grilled Korean Pork Belly but the vegetarian Hongo Y Rajas was good too. The drinks are the Citrus Crush and Cherry Limeade.

Eat the Streets 757 came to Virginia Beach today. The crowd was smaller than the Norfolk event but a good showing and activities in the MOCA too. I picked up some cupcakes and steak & chicken tacos.
I made wings last night—two recipes. The first was Sweet and Sticky Lemon-Pepper Wings and then a traditional Buffalo style.
Grilled cheese made with homemade artisan bread and dill cheddar.
Five Guys Bacon Cheeseburger. Good :)
Kiwi Shrimp roll they made for us at Misako. It was refreshing.
The company office I work in had a little social at The Yard House in Town Center. Had a great time and some food too :) From top to bottom: Chicken Strips, Margherita Pizza, a yard of beer, Blackened Swordfish Taco, Korean Beef Shortrib Taco, Hot Wings, Moo Shu Pork Rolls.
Basil Fried Rice prep
I pruned the basil we had out back and was able to keep the ends alive by placing them in a bowl of water. They kept for several days and were great in the basil fried rice I made.
Shelby tried her hand at making okonomiyaki-Japanese pancakes. She had shrimp in them and made her own sauce. They came out great and I added some pot stickers (those were frozen ;) )
It was Diversity Day at Shelby’s workplace—this means food! I took a shots before standing in line to grab something from a couple of the tables. Good stuff!
Today was the 1st Annual Eat the Streets 757 food truck event in Norfolk, VA. Hubcap Grill, Twisted Sisters Cupcakes, Stuft, Wrap-N-Roll, and Norfolk Ramen were serving long lines of eager customers supporting food truck access in Hampton Roads. Looking forward to next year’s event :) Note: The last photo is today’s smallest okonomiyaki with what was left in the pan.
The family was over for a Labor Day cookout, it was nice after spending the day at the beach.
Shelby was experimenting with sugar and ended up with Almond Brittle!
Larb made with ground turkey. Shelby has been knocking out some great dishes :)
Birthday cookout for Shelby’s workmates :)
Shelby and I took a trip to Grand Mart International Food yesterday. If you’re in the area and haven’t visited the store yet, make point to go—lots of good stuff there. We ended up picking up some blue crabs, produce, fenugreek, and a bag of frozen dumplings we sampled. The woman cooking them in the store was a very convincing salesperson.
