It was too nice to sit inside today. We ran a few errands and stopped for ice cream. My favorite is this:

Sweet Cream, Cheesecake, and Oreo Filling mixed with Heath bar from Cold Stone Creamery. We haven’t been in a while so this was a great treat.
Had lunch and dinner out today. First, Kow Pad Krapow with Pork @ Thai Papaya in Newport News, VA. Very good, just the way I like it.
Grilled Chicken with a Balsamic Vinegar and Herb Marinade. I added honey and ginger to the marinade; next time I’ll leave those out and add a little brown sugar.

We had family visiting from Indiana this past week. My niece loves pancit and while she was visiting she wanted to give cooking it a shot. So with a little guidance she was able to put dinner together for us!
Last year we drove by this little Lebonese grocer and decided to check it out. We found out a few of things that make this place great:
1. It has a lunch counter
2. Spices are very affordable in their grocery
3. Friendly service
Leila’s Mediterranean Groceries & Deli of Virginia Beach Blvd. has a great lunch menu but they close early. I do love the olives—antipasto—you get before your meal. I highly suggest the baba ghanoush; if you order fries for some reason, be prepared to wait. They have to heat the oil up to get those going.
Speaking of the kitchen, while you’re browsing around the grocery you can peek in and watch them cook the food if you like. The Beef Shawarma is pictured in the post. If you’re in the area check it out!
I’m looking forward to the day when I can give this site the attention it deserves. Between working full-time and attending university in the evening, my spare time is rare. I’m almost there though and when I can, I’ll start adding posts that are a little more fleshed out than the quickies I’m tossing up.
The Asian Pear Mojito at P.F. Chang’s was great.
Out to eat tonight. Szechuan Seafood Combo at P.F. Chang’s.
Pan Seared Scallops with a champagne reduction and pasta.
Fresh Market “House Blend”, Virginia Beach, VA
The weather in Virginia this week will be cold, very cold! I had planned on getting out to prepare garden for the season. It’s going to have to wait for now; I do have some cherry tomatoes started inside though. Looking forward to fresh vegetables from the garden. That’s one of our cucumbers from last year, easy to grow and tasty.
Pan Seared Shark Steak with Green Beans
Lamb Chops with Basmati and Sautéed Spinach at a local Mediterranean restaurant Azar’s (Hilltop).
Tzatziki appetizer at Azar’s (Hilltop).
Chicken and Gnocchi soup. Soup stock made from a leftover rotisserie chicken carcass.
Spaghetti Squash with Sun-dried Tomatoes, Herbs, and Parmesan. Quick and easy.
I-heart-food! Actually, I love food. I-heart-food was the closest domain name I could register this late in the game that was related to my goals here. Makes you wish you could go back and squat a bunch of good names, right?
This is about food—cooking it, eating it, reading about it…probably some random blurbs here and there too; stuff not related to food will definitely be on here.
Cheers!
